Award of Merit, Renovation/Restoration: Community First Bank of Las Vegas, Crockett Building, Las Vegas, N.M.
The historic Crockett Building was designed by well-known architects Rapp and Rapp in 1899, but has sat vacant and neglected for years. After outgrowing its original location of 60 years, Community First Bank renovated the building's first floor, basement, mezzanine and a portion of the second floor. Special attention was paid to retaining the historic character of the interior, including the lobby's tin ceiling, grand stairway and exposed brick. With the construction crews 90% locally hired, the project helped revitalize downtown Las Vegas.
