Text size: A A

Caesars Entertainment Corp. in Las Vegas has secured financing to convert Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon, located along the Las Vegas Strip at Flamingo Road, into a boutique lifestyle hotel and casino. The $185-million renovation includes the addition of a rooftop pool as well as a nightclub to be managed by Drai Management Group.

"This project exemplifies our strategy to develop new experiences that will help attract a broader spectrum of visitors to Las Vegas and our properties," says Gary Loveman, chairman, CEO and president of Caesars, in a statement. Loveman adds that the renovated space will provide visitors with a sophisticated, upscale experience.

The structure was originally built in 1979 under the name Barbary Coast Hotel & Casino. The overhaul will include the complete remodel of 186 existing guest rooms, 12 suites, casino floor and common areas. A new second-floor restaurant will be added, along with construction of the 65,000-sq-ft rooftop pool and nightclub.

Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon will temporarily close on Feb. 4, 2013 to accommodate the remodeling. The completed project is expected to open in early 2014, under a new name, while the rooftop club will open later that year. More than 1,000 people will be employed at the boutique hotel/casino, according to Caesars.

The project follows Caesars' The LINQ, a massive $550-million entertainment complex, under construction adjacent to the property and anticipated to open in late 2013. The LINQ is being constructed by Las Vegas-based W.A. Richardson Builders; the contractor for Bill's Gamblin' Hall has not yet been announced.
