Former Opus West Execs Form Richard Solomon Group

The firm will complete Tempe Gateway and other distressed asset properties.

Former Opus West executives Jamie Godwinand Craig Zupancic have formedThe Richard Solomon Group, a commercialreal estate consulting firm with a whollyowned subsidiary providing design-build,general contracting and tenant improvementservices. Godwin and Zupancic bring morethan three decades of commercial developmentand construction experience to owners,developers, tenants and property managers.Current projects include a tenant improvementat Pima Center that houses First AmericanTitle Company.

RSG is currently working with banks andcourt appointed receivers to complete severaldistressed asset properties, includingsome former Opus West projects after thefirm’s July bankruptcy. US Bank and court appointedreceiver CBRE engaged RSG to completethe $49.3 million Tempe Gateway. Otherprojects include Miller Crossing, a $12.5million retail center in Chandler and the LaSiena and McDowell Village independentliving communities in north central Phoenixand south Scottsdale.


Vanessa A. Westfall has joined SummitBuilders Construction Co. of Phoenix asdirector of business development. She will helpdevelop new business for Summit in the Southwest.Most recently, Westfall was an owner in aboutique marketing and business developmentfirm. She brings many well-established relationshipsin the real estate and municipal communitiesto her new position.


D.P. Electric Inc. has hired Bruce Meyersas its newest project manager. He will be responsiblefor providing management controland expertise on a day to day basis. Priorto his new position, Meyers was a branchmanager for Gaylor Inc. His 25 years of experienceincludes industrial controls, HVACcontrols and commercial projects like theRenaissance Hotel in Glendale.


Kimberly Mickelson recently joined theSmall Giants team as marketing associate,responsible for social media, proposal developmentand website management for clients.With over six years of marketing experiencein the design and construction industry, shereceived her Bachelor’s degree from the Universityof Nebraska in Lincoln.


Lloyd Ramsey was recently named practiceleader for the Stantec’s buildings engineeringpractice in the western U.S. Ramsey will bebased out of the firm’s Phoenix office and willcontribute to business development efforts andexpanding services throughout the region. Ramseyhas been with Stantec for five years and has22 years of engineering and management experience.He is a licensed engineer and LEED accreditedprofessional. He received his diplomain power engineering from the Northern AlbertaInstitute of Technology in Canada.
