Names In The News - March 2008
Associated Contractors of New Mexico has elected its 2008 slate of officers and board. Pat Magill of Armstrong Construction, Roswell was elected to serve as the 2008 Associated Contractors of New Mexico’s president. In addition, Gray Kite of Twin Mountain Construction II, Albuquerque was elected vice president and D’Auna Wood of WW Construction of Albuquerque was elected secretary/treasurer.

The 2008 ACNM Board of Directors includes Rod Billingsley of Billingsley Engineering; Ernie Carlson of Constructors Inc.; Dave Otoski of Mountain States Constructors; Benny Roybal of Cutler Repaving and Alan Stott of James Hamilton Construction.


Alicia Simmons has joined T.L. Roof & Associates Construction Company as a junior estimator. Simmons has been in the construction industry for seven years. She began her career in the industry as an office assistant and has spent the past several years working as an estimation coordinator/project coordinator.

T.L. Roof & Associates Construction Company has also hired Ken Mongeon as a project superintendent. Mongeon has been in the construction industry for over thirty years. He began as a union laborer working his way up to general superintendent.


Daniel Upton has been hired as an assistant field superintendent for the PENTA Building Group’s northern Nevada operations. Upton has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Prior to joining PENTA, he served as field superintendent for Krump Construction.

PENTA also hired Katie Carter as a contract administrator for the company’s northern Nevada operations. Carter has more than 10 years of experience in the construction industry. Prior to joining PENTA, she served as a construction services assistant where she managed job costs and verified subcontractor licensing and insurance.


Craig Bolze has joined Stantec’s Phoenix Transportation Engineering team as senior project manager. Bolze has nearly two decades of professional and technical experience in civil engineering. He has substantial experience in the areas of water resources design analysis and modeling, drainage design and analysis, floodplain mapping and modifications, roadway improvement projects and environmental engineering. Bolze is an Arizona State University graduate and registered engineer in Arizona. His professional affiliations include the American Public Works Association and the Arizona Society of Civil Engineers.

In Stantec’s Flagstaff office, William "Bill" Menard has joined the firm as manager of client relations. As public works director for Flagstaff for more than 15 years, Menard oversaw 15 divisions with a $55 million operating capital budget. While in that position, Menard was responsible for projects such as the $60 million Airport and Airpark renovation, implementation of a $13 million parks bond program and development of policy procedures to enhance customer service. In his new position with Stantec, Menard will be a key contact and liaison for contractors, developers and public agencies.

Sandy Phillips joined the Flagstaff office as project manager for civil engineering. Phillips has more than 18 years experience providing engineering for large-scale commercial and residential subdivisions, as well as local schools and the Navajo Nation. Phillips is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo and is a licensed professional engineer in Arizona and California.


James D. Bennar has joined the Tempe office of AMEC as a senior project manager. Bennar brings AMEC’s growing materials testing & inspection unit nearly a decade of experience as a project manager. His experience includes materials-testing, inspection and quality-control responsibilities on large-scale construction projects involving freeways, airports and water-treatment facilities. Bennar holds registrations/certifications with the American Concrete Institute, the International Conference of Building Officials and the American Welding Society, among others.


Territory Inc. appointed Tamaula Coffin to senior property manager. In her position, Coffin oversees day-to-day operations for retail shopping centers totaling 2.8 million sq ft. Coffin earned an associate’s degree in business management and accounting from Las Vegas Business College. She attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she received certification as a paralegal with an emphasis in contract law and real estate. Coffin is also a licensed real estate salesperson and has a permit in property management.


Trillium Residential LLC promoted Michelle Sinclair to director of operations for Trillium Residential, from her previous position as director of employee development. Sinclair has more than 20 years experience in the multi-family industry and has been with the company since 2003. In her new role, Sinclair will manage all facets of Trillium’s on-site operations including revenue growth and lifestyle training to resident retention and site team management for the entire Trillium portfolio.

Sinclair started her career in the San Francisco Bay area as a leasing agent and has worked in the Phoenix metropolitan area for more than 15 years. Sinclair is a highly involved member of the Arizona Multi-Housing Associations.


BJG | Architecture + Engineering has hired Shelley-Ann Jules-Plag as an interiors intern for the Reno office. In her new position Jules-Plag will assist designers and architects with space planning, finish selection, contract preparation and design material regulation.

Prior to joining BJG, she served as an interior design intern for KCJ Design where she assisted with day-to-day design operations including kitchen and bathroom design, lighting finishes and design layout. Jules-Plag is an active member of the American Society of Interior Designers and a proud recipient of the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Graduate in the School of the Arts and Interior Design at the University of Nevada, Reno.


McDonald Carano Wilson LLP has named Jacquelyn Leleu partner. Leleu practices primarily in the areas of employment law, construction law and commercial litigation. She has represented clients in the construction, real estate, gaming, retail, manufacturing and financial services industries in a wide array of litigation, administrative, and alternative dispute resolution matters. Leleu obtained her bachelor of arts from Loyola University Chicago, and her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She began her legal career in Chicago, litigating commercial matters for both national lending institutions and insurance carriers. In 2001, Leleu relocated to Las Vegas and joined McDonald Carano Wilson.


SH Architecture was awarded the 2007 AIA Nevada Sustainable Practice Award. This award was “established in order to recognize those individuals, firms and organizations who are initiating, and integrating sustainable ideas and practices into their own personal and professional lives, and are thereby, setting a higher standard for others to follow. It is awarded to acknowledge the worthwhile and noteworthy contributions that are being made by those who are committed to creating a more sustainable and livable world.”

This year, Curt Carlson, director of design and principal at SH Architecture was nominated and won the AIA Nevada Distinguished Service. “The award is designed to recognize the significant contributions made to the community and the profession through the various levels of AIA membership.”


Don Kile, president of The Ellman Companies Master Planned Communities Division, has been named to represent the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on the Board of Directors of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC).

Kile, a native of Amarillo, Texas, moved to Arizona in 1987 and joined Ellman 10 years ago.

In his duties as president of The Ellman Companies Master Planned Communities Division, Kile oversees the acquisition, planning, and development of The Ellman Companies’ residential communities.

In his capacity on the Board of Directors of GPEC, Kile joins the other members in working on projecting a regional identity and collaborating with other organizations to ensure a competitive, vibrant and self-sustaining regional economy supported by a talented, technologically advanced, diverse workforce.
