Weitz Hires Specialized BIM Manager
Weitz’s new senior manager of virtual design and construction will manage and coordinate all their BIM efforts.
The Weitz Company has hired Bruce Cousins as senior manager of virtual design and construction to manage and coordinate all their Building Information Management efforts. Cousins is a graduate of the University of Denver and the University of California-Berkley School of Architecture. He has been a practicing architect for over 30 years and an active user of 3D modeling for over 15 years. He has managed his own architecture firm and was a representative for Archidesk and their own 3D-5D products.
Additionally, Cousins is a regular public speaker about 3D design and an adjunct professor at several universities on the subject of virtual design and construction.
The Korte Company’s growth in the Las Vegas area has prompted the company to add a number of employees to its current staff. The company hired Kyle Cox, Greg Garner and John Johnston as project superintendents. They will be responsible for the day-to-day organization and operations on specific jobsites for the Las Vegas division
Korte has also promoted Ned Chavez from project estimator to senior project estimator. Additionally, Barney Cline has been promoted from special services to warehouse manager.
Adam Wagner has been hired as the information technology manager for JB Henderson Construction. Wagner brings over 11 years of experience in the IT industry to the company. He will be responsible for management and maintenance of overall network configuration along with numerous information technology support systems for the company. Wagner will serve JB Henderson offices in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Los Alamos and Colorado Springs.
Colours Inc. has appointed Veronica Overbeck to the position of designer. In her new position, Overbeck is responsible for creating job proposals, producing color boards for client presentations, pulling schemes together for design development and presenting to clients. She brings more than seven years of experience to the firm. Previously, Overbeck was an accessory designer for Color Design Art in Thousand Oaks, Calif. She selected the artwork and pulled together schemes for model home projects. Prior to that position, Overbeck served as a design assistant and purchasing agent at Colours. Overbeck attended the Art Institute of Las Vegas.
The Nevada Department of Business and Industry appointed Gail Anderson as deputy department director. Anderson was promoted from her position as administrator of the state’s real estate division to head the Las Vegas director’s office. Anderson served for five years as the head of the real estate division, where she had once worked as the education and public information officer. Anderson also has previous experience as administrator of Trinity Christian Schools in Las Vegas and was a researcher for the Commercial Appraisal Group/Bank of America.
Anderson holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As deputy department director, Anderson will assist in the oversight of 16 diverse agencies that comprise the Department of Business and Industry; 12 of the agencies are regulatory.
Christopher Ault Jr. has been appointed as deputy administrator. Ault, a Reno resident, held a Nevada real estate license for six years. He is the former director for commercial business development and has over 15 years of experience in corporate management, commercial and residential lending and business development. Ault holds a bachelor of arts in speech communication with a minor in business from the University of Nevada, Reno. Ault will be based in the agency’s Carson City office.
NTDSTICHLER Architecture has added four new team members to the firm’s Phoenix office. Timothy Rice, associate AIA has joined as senior project leader, Jason Liu, associate AIA as job captain, Brian Crawford as job captain and Quintin Smith, associate AIA as designer/draftsperson. These additions bring the Phoenix staff count up to 31, with a combined Arizona total of 54.
Rice has over 15 years experience in architecture, the last seven of which were dedicated to healthcare design. His expertise also includes retail, office, hospitality and restaurant designs. He earned his bachelor of arts in architecture from the University of Minnesota.
Liu graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor of interdisciplinary studies in architecture and business. At NTDSTICHLER he focuses on healthcare projects.
Crawford has worked on K-12 designs for the past 14 years and is an eight-year member of the AIA.
Smith is a member of NTDSTICHLER’s education studio. He earned his bachelor of architecture from Mississippi State University and is also versed in commercial, civic and multifamily residential designs.
Panattoni Construction Inc.’s Las Vegas division has appointed Eric Jones to senior project manager in the Las Vegas office. As senior project manager, Jones supervises all aspects of planning and coordination for designated Panattoni Construction projects and will oversee his projects from concept to completion.
Jones joined Panattoni Construction in March 2004 in the firm’s Reno office. He relocated to the Las Vegas office in December. Prior to joining Panattoni Construction, Jones was project manager for Northern Sierra Construction in Reno.
Jones received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in construction management from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Road Machinery LLC announced that Dan Roush is the new general manager for the off-road equipment company’s Tucson, AZ region. In his new position, Roush oversees all product support, sales and rental of heavy machinery and related construction products carried by the Komatsu distributor in the Tucson area. Roush has held positions in sales and as service manager and parts manager. Before joining Road Machinery as an account manager for construction sales, Roush had worked with a large John Deere distributor
ISEC Inc. announced the promotion of Tim McCoy to vice president. McCoy has been with ISEC for 20 years and has held positions of operations and sales. He most recently served as the southwest regional manager of ISEC’s southwest region with responsibility for all operations in Arizona and Nevada. McCoy will continue to oversee the southwest region and take on additional corporate responsibilities.
Wespac Construction Inc. has hired Kelly Laabs as the company’s new director of business development. Laabs will oversee business development, strategic marketing and public relations efforts for Wespac Construction’s three offices in Phoenix, Flagstaff and Corona, Calif.
Laabs brings an extensive background in business development and strategic marketing within the B2B industries, formerly serving as a director of a national marketing agency with a strong focus in the construction, heavy equipment and mining market segments.
Named one of the “Top 10 Business Women to Watch” by the Phoenix Business Journal, Laabs is also heavily involved in the Phoenix community, serving on the board for the Fresh Start Women’s Foundation and other local nonprofit organizations.
Dean B. Durkee, Ph.D., P.E., was named vice president with Gannett Fleming. Based in the firm’s Phoenix, Ariz., office, Durkee is the regional manager of the Earth Science and Hydraulics Practice. With more than 16 years of experience, Durkee oversees the technical direction, project management, and business development of dam and geotechnical efforts. He works closely with clients throughout the western United States to successfully complete water resource, environmental, and transportation projects.
Durkee holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Colorado State University, a master of science in geotechnical engineering from the University of Rhode Island, and a doctorate degree in geotechnical engineering from Colorado State University.
