Named AGC-NM President
Lockwood Construction's Henderson
succeeds Norm Gabel as
president of the New Mexico Building Branch, AGC for
2007.
Brook Henderson, project
manager for Lockwood Construction Co., Santa Fe, has
been elected 2007 president of the New Mexico Building Branch,
Associated General Contractors, a statewide association representing
general contractors, specialty contractors, suppliers and
services in the commercial construction industry. Elected
through a mail ballot of the chapter membership in late 2006,
Henderson succeeds Norman A. Gabel,
Jaynes Corporation, as head of the 58-year old chapter.
A graduate of Southwestern College in Kansas, Henderson has
ten years experience in the construction industry. Recent
projects he has completed for Lockwood Construction Co. include
the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, Fire Station No. 8, and 34 condominiums
and two clubhouses at Bishop's Lodge. Other officers elected
were Maria Guy, J.B. Henderson Construction Co. Inc., Albuquerque,
senior vice-president; Robert Lockwood, Lockwood Construction
Co., Santa Fe, vice-president; and Tony M. Thomas, Summit
Construction, Inc., Albuquerque, secretary-treasurer.
DFDia is pleased to announce that
Molly Laurey has been selected to be a principal
of the firm. With more than 11 years of experience in the
interior design industry in Phoenix, Laurey is a project director
for DFDia's office condo division. Laurey is NCIDQ-certified
and is a professional member of the International Interior
Design Association's Southwest Chapter. Laurey received her
bachelor of arts in interior design from Arizona State University.
The Arizona Contractors Association (ACA) has promoted
Brett Jones to vice president
of operations, and announced Romina
Korkes as their new director of governmental affairs.
Jones will continue administering the ACA safety program and
will now oversee governmental affairs and membership relations,
as well. In addition, as vice president of operations, Jones
will ensure that the organization is well positioned in a
rapidly evolving and competitive environment by being an agent
for ongoing organizational change.
Jones has worked for the ACA since 1999, during that time
he has been an essential component in the development of the
award winning Contractors' Grassroots Network, the design
of the award winning ACA website and in the growth of the
ACA safety program which provides workers' compensation dividends
to companies with low loss histories.
Korkes will be advancing the interests of the construction
industry at the Capitol and in City Governments. In addition
to lobbying, Korkes will also administer the ACA's award winning
Contractors' Grassroots Network and the ACA political action
committee. Korkes is the former director of public affairs
at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. She previously held positions
with the Arizona State Senate President's Office and Governor
Jane Hull's Office of Constituent Affairs. Hiring Korkes adds
a third full time lobbyist representing the construction industry
both at the Capitol and in city governments for the Arizona
Contractors Association.
Peter J. Lonson, Sr. and
Cody Jackson have joined
Red Mountain Machinery LLC as account managers in Phoenix.
In his new position, Lonson is responsible for construction
equipment sales. Lonson spent 12 years as a territory manager
for Roland Machinery, a Komatsu distributor headquartered
in Springfield, Ill. He attended Wright College in Chicago.
Jackson will develop and maintain the customer base within
his territory. Jackson has more than seven years of experience
in the construction and mining equipment business. He has
worked as an account manager with Caterpillar and Bobcat equipment
dealers and has experience in equipment rentals. Jackson studied
criminal justice for two years at Yavapai College in Prescott,
Ariz.
Peter Lonson, Jr. has
moved to the company's Prescott office as a product support
sales representative. He had previously been based in Phoenix
as product support sales representative. Lonson Jr. has worked
in the construction and mining equipment business for four
years, and was a product support sales representative in Road
Machinery's Phoenix office covering Maricopa County for almost
two years after spending two years in equipment sales for
Roland Machinery. Lonson Jr. earned an associates degree in
business administration at Harper College in Palatine, Ill.
John Trombley has also
joined the company as a product support sales representative
in Phoenix. In his new position, Trombley is responsible for
parts and service sales in northwest Maricopa County. Trombley
has more than eight years of experience selling utility and
construction equipment. He has worked in sales with Volvo
and Hitachi equipment dealers and with milling and sawing
equipment. He also has extensive experience in the landscape
business as a partner in a Phoenix company.
Las Vegas-based Pacific Concepts, has hired Angela
McAwley as marketing manager. In her new position,
McAwley is responsible for assisting engineers with project
coordination and handling all graphic and web design needs.
McAwley brings over nine years of marketing experience and
expertise in graphic and web design to Pacific Concepts. Her
tenure with Las Vegas and Los Angeles-based consulting firms
has included project management and coordination for a variety
of industries, including government and utility agencies.
McAwley's range of skills encompasses conceptualization, branding
and public relations. McAwley attended community college in
Colorado and has taken graphic and web design courses at the
University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Michael Lollar has joined
Rowland Companies Construction Group at the Scottsdale
office. Lollar joined Rowland Companies in the position of
project manager, in which he is responsible for overall management
of projects, including monitoring and coordinating project
schedules, budgets, and contract documents.
Lollar brings vast experience to Rowland working in the construction
industry for over 24 years, and holds a bachelor of science
in construction management from Purdue University. His experience
in project management includes specialty markets of Rowland's
- healthcare, religious, and educational projects, along with
large commercial retail construction projects. Mike has a
proven ability to build strong alliances and relationships
with clients and subcontractors to ensure the highest level
of customer service.
Joel Halfhill has also
joined the Scottsdale office of Rowland Companies Construction
Group. Halfhill joined Rowland Companies in the position
of project manager, in which he is responsible for monitoring
and coordinating project schedules, budgets, contract documents,
and overall management of projects. Halfhill has worked in
the construction industry for 30 years, and holds a bachelor
of science in surveying and engineering from California State
University, along with an AA in engineering. Halfhill's vast
experience includes projects for the Department of Defense,
commercial retail, and educational facilities. He has been
commended by the U.S. Air Force for outstanding and safe construction
practices.
The Nevada Contractors Association, a nonprofit industry
trade group, recently named Kris
Sundell of Stewart & Sundell Concrete
as its 2007 Chairman. Brent Conrad
of Werdco B.C. is vice chairman and Travis
Burton of Perini Building Co. is secretary/treasurer.

Barton Malow Company has hired
Brook Andrews as superintendent. Brook brings more
than 20 years of construction experience to Barton Malow Company.
As project superintendent, Brook will be responsible for the
direction of field construction activities which include the
development and tracking of schedules, cost and, document
control, client, architect/engineer and subcontractor correspondence,
and trade coordination meetings. He will work closely with
trade contractors to monitor performance and adherence to
project rules, procedures, and safety requirements. Brook
holds a bachelor of science degree in construction management
with an emphasis in construction technology and business management
from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Dekker/Perich/Sabatini is pleased to announce that
21 of the firm's professionals have achieved the status of
LEED accredited professional. The newest addition to this
group is Chuck Hanson, PE,
principal-in-charge of the firm's structural engineering division.
Hanson is one of only two structural engineers in New Mexico
to have received this accreditation. Other recent additions
include: Andrea Gunning, NCARB; Peter
Holloway, AIA; Sara Zahm and Will Gleason, AICP.
