DMJM Design has promoted several
Phoenix office employees. John
W. Sorce, AIA was promoted to principal, after serving
as director of operations in the Phoenix office for the past
three years.
Promoted to senior associates were Thomas
A. Awai and John Kizior.
Awai joined the Phoenix office as director of business development
in 2002. As CAD manager, Kizior is responsible for installation,
configuration and training for all Autodesk-based products
for DMJM Design offices nationwide.
Robert M. Aitken has opened the Arizona office of Architectural
Nexus, a principal architectural firm specializing in health
care, academic and research facilities. The office is the
Utah firms third location, and is projected to employ over
20 professionals in the next two years. Aitken has more than
21 years of architectural experience and previously worked
on planning and designing projects for the University Medical
Center in Tucson.
Ryan Companies US, Inc. has promoted Mary McGowne to director
of management, properties southwest. McGowne will be responsible
for the property management function of more than 2.2 million
sq. ft. of Ryan's office, industrial and retail properties
in the region. McGowne has more than 22 years experience in
property management, and worked for twelve years as director
of property management and leasing with DMB prior to joining
Ryan.
Margaret Coffey was awarded the designation of Professional
Engineers by the New Mexico Board of Licensure for Professional
Engineers and Surveyors. Coffey is a structural engineer with
Chavez-Grieves Consulting Engineers and is a native of Albuquerque.
She received her B.S. degree in civil engineering from New
Mexico State University, and a master's degree in civil engineering
from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Projects Coffey
has worked on while at Chavez-Grieves includes Casino del
Sol, the MESA project at Sandia National Labs and the Metropolitan
Courthouse.
Carson Taylor Harvey, Inc. has promoted Lori Gehner and Robin
Allen to project managers. Both previously served the company
as project engineers. Their new roles will entail managing
all aspects of the company's construction projects, including
all facets of estimating, scheduling, procurement and construction.
Gehner will manage Carson Taylor Harvey's work on food service/
kitchen improvements at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors
Authority. Allen will manage the company's remodel of Halle
Hewetson Elementary School.
Eric H. Hedlund has been promoted to Arizona district manager
for Sundt Construction Inc. Previously he was pre-construction
manager for the company's Phoenix office. Hedlund began his
Sundt career in 1987 and has also held the positions of project
director, senior project manager, project superintendent,
project engineer, and project estimator. Hedlund graduated
from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in civil engineering,
and is a member of the board of directors of the American
Institute of Constructors and the Arizona Builders' Alliance.
