The Southwest Division of The Weitz Company recently announced Armondo Chavez has joined Weitz Lite as a project manager. Weitz Lite, a streamline division dedicated to tenant improvements and smaller scale general contracting in the valley, was developed in 2000.

Prior to joining The Weitz Company, Chavez spent over six years as a project manager for hardison/downey construction, inc. He graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in construction management.

The Weitz Company also recently announced that the company has promoted Doug King, Bob Parra and Mike Scholtz to project superintendent I and Jay Combs to project superintendent II.


Eric Dick has joined Weston Solutions Inc.'s Albuquerque office as a senior project scientist. With more than 15 years of experience as an environmental scientist, Eric specializes in RCRA/CERCLA investigations, and UST site management. Working for consulting firms, he has provided professional services to Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, the Environmental Protection Agency, the City of Albuquerque, and numerous private sector clients.


George Glendenning has been named director of marketing for ACE Engineering. He has been associated with various companies in Las Vegas for the last 18 years, including two consulting engineering firms.

Until 1992 Mr. Glendenning served as vice president and manager of the Las Vegas office of Omni-Means, Ltd. Engineers & Planners. Prior to that he was director of marketing and personnel for the Las Vegas-based firm, G.C. Wallace, Inc. Engineering/Architecture.


Sandvick Equipment and Supply of Phoenix recently announced some staff changes at the firm. The company has named Rafael Gutierrez as safety representative for the Phoenix office. Prior to joining Sandvick Equipment, he worked for the Fishel Company.

Brad Booth was also named as chief operating officer, while Lisa Schabloski as chief financial officer. Booth previously served as general manager while Schabloski served as the company's controller.


Larry Matthews has joined C.F. Jordan as a project manager. During his long career, Matthews has overseen many large scale private and public projects, including medical facilities, hotels, office buildings and apartments.

Matthews holds a degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona.


Carson Taylor Harvey recently named Ron Hoerl as superintendent. Hoerl, a fourth generation construction supervisor, has overseen projects ranging from restaurants and retails shops to school and medical facilities.


David Grieves, chairman of Chavez-Grieves Consulting Engineers in Albuquerque was recently awarded the 2003 Professional Leadership Award from the New Mexico Chapter of the American Council of Civil Engineering Companies.
Grieves helped found the company nearly 23 years ago and has been a practicing engineer for nearly 30 years.

Grieves received his BS in architectural engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and is past president of the New Mexico chapter of ACEC and also was past national vice president of ACEC.



Donzil Worthington, a senior project manager for Souder Miller & Associates has been named manager of the Albuquerque office. Worthington has more than 24 years of experience and has managed projects in excess of more than $75 million.


Midstate Mechanical recently announced staff changes at the Phoenix firm. Joe Leichner has been named as vice president of operations. Jon Haug is now in charge of marketing and sales, with Allan Roth taking the field operations manager position. David Williams is now the service manager.



Clark & Sullivan Builders, announced today it has hired Jo Lea Marlow as estimating coordinator.

In her new position, Marlow will work closely with the company's estimating departments in California and Nevada on prospective jobs. Marlow brings to her position more than a decade of experience in the construction industry. Her past experience includes serving as a project assistant for a Michigan-based construction company performing projects across the United States.

Marlow earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social psychology from Kansas State University and a master's degree in human resource behavior from Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt.
