Work Tops Off Kitchell Contractors recently topped off the steel
structure that significantly expands the existing Sunrise Children's Hospital.
The HCA facility, which sits on a joint campus with Sunrise Hospital & Medical
Center, is located in central Las Vegas.
The 210,000-sq.-ft. tower addition
consists of 110,000 sq. ft. of new construction and 100,000 sq. ft. of renovations
to the existing hospital, including the addition of labor and delivery areas,
C-section rooms, a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), pediatric ICU, post partum
unit, oncology unit, and staff lounge. The architect for this project is Las Vegas-based
KGA Architecture.
Firm to Build Home Gallery
LM Construction Company of Las Vegas recently picked up Richmond American
Homes new Home Gallery, to be located at 7770 S. Industrial Road - Suites 8,9,10
in the Safari Business Park - Phase II.
The new Las Vegas Home Gallery
store will total 23, 000-sq.-ft., housing the home buyer's resource center and
office staff.
The tenant improvement project is on schedule and slated
for completion in late Spring
Design
Starts on Air Force ProjectKMA Architecture & Engineering (KMA) has
begun designs for a 33,000-sq.-ft. vehicle maintenance facility at Nellis Air
Force Base north of Las Vegas. KMA was retained by the general contractor, Straub
Construction, Inc. as architect for the $10.9 million project that is owned by
the United States Air Force. In addition, the project includes a new
wash area for military vehicles, loading dock and fire pump building. All designs
will meet national anti-terrorism requirements as well as the standards maintained
by Nellis Air Force Base. The project team consists of Simon Pollard
and Rey Zumarraga. Burkett & Wong provided structural engineering and civil
engineering. The landscape architect is Garbini & Garbini.
Company Picks up Two ContractsTWC Construction has
been awarded its first contract from Nevada State Bank to build its newest branch
at the intersection of Durango Drive and Badura Avenue. This 6,024-sq.-ft., branch,
designed by Lucchesi Galati Architects, is located on a 1.5 acre site and will
serve residents of Rhodes Ranch in the rapidly-growing southwest submarket near
the I-215.
The contract is valued at $1.4 million and includes site preparation,
steel and wood frame shell and interior improvements. Construction is expected
to start at mid first quarter 2005 with a scheduled completion date early in the
third quarter of this year.
TWC was also recently awarded a contract valued
at $5.6 million to TWC Construction, Inc. for an industrial/flex concrete tilt-up
building with related site work for ProLogis. The 214,200-sq.ft. building 6 is
located on 4.75 acres at the Las Vegas Corporate Center, at Industrial Center
Drive in North Las Vegas. Construction is scheduled to start during the first
quarter 2005 with an anticipated completion date in the third quarter of this
year. The Las Vegas Corporate Center is located in the rapidly-growing industrial
corridor in North Las Vegas near Craig Road and I-15. The recent unprecedented
boom in Valley land prices combined with easy access to major transportation routes
has made this sector in North Las Vegas extremely attractive to industrial developers.
The architect on both projects is Blakely Johnson and Ghusn.
Work Ready to Start on Restaurant Architecture
firm Carpenter Sellers Associates (CSA) has completed construction documents for
a new 4,900-sq.-ft. restaurant located at Warm Springs and Jones; Johnny Fontane's
Pub & Pizzeria. This new pub was designed to reflect the owner's love of the
look and feel of Italy. Exterior finishes of burnished plaster and stone create
the warm, rich atmosphere of Italy while contemporary design elements lean toward
a modern, clean feel. Bentar Construction will build the new restaurant. Tom Julian
and Joey Scroppo of Quintessa II LLC are the owner/developers.Public Safety Project Complete CORE Construction recently
announced the Las Vegas-based general contractor recently completed construction
of the integrated Nevada Department of Transportation, Nevada Highway Patrol and
Freeway Arterial Signal Technology facility. The project, located at
Decatur Boulevard and the 215 Beltway, covers approximately 13 acres and includes
two buildings totaling 66,670 sq. ft., including a 10,485-sq.-ft. warehouse/maintenance
facility. The construction contract is estimated at approximately $10,750,000.
CORE was contracted by the State of Nevada Public Works Board. The architect was
KGA Architecture.
