Firm Wins University Work

The PENTA Building Group was recently selected as the general contractor for the new Donald C. Moyer Student Union on the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus.

The $32 million project is being designed by Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects of Henderson. Construction will begin on the 143,000-sq.-ft. student union on June 1, 2005. Phase I is scheduled to be completed in June 2006, and phase II in July 2007.


New Rec Complex Planned

Kitchell has been selected as the construction manager at-risk for the $37 million University of Nevada - Las Vegas new Student Recreation Complex.

The project is located on the southern perimeter of the campus near Tropicana Avenue.

The new 184,005-sq.-ft. facility will have a 159,953-sq.-ft. recreation center and will include basketball/volleyball courts, aerobic rooms, racquetball courts, modern locker rooms, weight and cardio rooms, multiple pools, an indoor track, a lobby, food service area and administrative offices. The remaining 24,052 sq ft. will house the wellness center, which will consist of a pharmacy, labs, health center, counseling exam and conference rooms and administrative offices.

Construction will begin this summer. The architects for the project are DMJM Design of Phoenix and Hastings+Chivetta of St. Louis, MO.

Kitchell was also recently selected to provide owner representative services for Consolidated Resorts, Las Vegas for their timeshare condominium project, Tahiti Village. The architect is Las Vegas-based Carpenter Sellers.

Phase I of the project consists of 154 timeshare units, a sales/lobby building and central plant, which will ultimately service up to 1,000 units. Currently

Kitchell is under contract for Phase I of the project, scheduled to complete this fall.


Ground Breaks on Business Parks

Sacramento-based Panattoni Development recently announced plans for two business parks in Las Vegas. Ghusn Blakely Johnson

The company recently broke ground at the Lamb Business Center, a 26-acre project with three buildings totaling 343,000 sq. ft. The $12 million project is scheduled for completion this spring. Panattoni Construction is building the project which was designed by Blakely Ghusn Johnson.

The firm also recently announced that they are breaking ground in the second quarter of 2005 on the Shadow Mountain Business Park. The 9.5 acre business park features 10 buildings ranging in size from 10,000 to 40,0000 sq. ft. Plans call for a fourth quarter completion on the $10.5 million project. Howard S. Hotel Project to Start

Summit Builders Construction Company has been awarded the contract for a new Homewood Suites hotel project located at 10450 S. Eastern Avenue in Henderson, Nevada for developer South Pointe Hospitality, L.C. of Nevada.

The new hotel will encompass 145 suites within four stories. The 123,000 SF hotel will also feature a penthouse suite. Amenities will include a large boardroom and three meeting rooms as well as a pool and spa.

The new hotel project, run by Summit Builders' Las Vegas regional office, Summit Builders of Nevada, will break ground this month with completion anticipated for early fourth quarter 2005. Lamb Architects, of Scottsdale, Ariz., is the project architect.
