Contractor Wins High School Job

CORE Construction recently announced the firm has been contracted by the Clark County School District to construct the Dorrell/Goldfield High School at the northwest corner of Dorrell Lane and Goldfield Street in northeast Las Vegas.

The project consists of 350,000 sq. ft. on a 47-acre parcel of land. The site also includes a football stadium, track, softball, baseball and soccer fields, and tennis and basketball courts.

Construction of the $55 million project is scheduled for completion in May of 2006. Tate Snyder Kimsey is the architect of record. The project marks the second for CORE Construction using the county's new high school prototype. The contractor expects to complete the prototype, at the southeast corner of Buffalo and Grand Teton drives, in August 2005.


Class A Office Work to Start

Montecito Companies, a Las Vegas-based development company, recently announced it will develop and start construction on a six-story, 100,000-sq.-ft. Class A office project.

Located on the south side of Elkhorn Road and Durango Drive, the structure will is next to United Health Services planned Centennial Hills Hospital-Medical Center. This is the first major office project announced for this area.

Called the Montecito Centre, this is a 3.6-acre project that includes a four-story parking structure. It will break ground the first week of January and is scheduled for completion and occupancy third quarter 2005.

The project was designed by JMA Architecture and is being constructed by Burke & Associates



Firm Starts 2 Projects

TWC Construction recently announced that it has been awarded the $10.7 million contract to build the next phase of the Henderson Commerce Center for Harsch Investment Properties.

The new project consists of two, single-story concrete tilt-wall buildings, totaling approximately 360,000 sq. ft.

The office, flex and manufacturing/distribution facilities are located on 17.4 acres at the intersection of Warm Springs and Eastgate roads in Henderson, with easy access to major transportation routes U.S. 93/95 and Interstate 215. Construction started in mid-September 2004 with an expected completion date at the end of the first quarter, 2005.

The firm also started construction on Pine Plaza, a mixed-use office and retail development located on 9.25 acres in the southwest section of Las Vegas at Ft. Apache and Patrick Lane. The project consists of 11 single-story wood frame/stucco buildings totaling 90,000 sq. ft. of space. The estimated value of the contract is $6.6 million and the developer is Pine Development, Inc. The scheduled completion date for the buildings' construction is first quarter 2005.


Granite Construction Begins Work on Northstar Ranch

Granite Construction Company recently announced it has been awarded a contract for subdivision improvements on one of many emerging housing developments in north Reno.

Improvements on the Northstar Ranch development, being built in response to the needs of Reno's growing population, began June 2004 and are scheduled for completion February 2005.

The development, owned by Lennar Homes, is located in Golden Valley on 111 acres. Granite has been contracted to perform earthwork, underground, curb and gutter, concrete and paving. Construction, which will cover more than 800,000 cu. yds of excavation, is estimated at $8.5 million.

Granite estimator and project manager is Craig Miller and project superintendent is Scott Stromberg.


Retail Work Underway

SR Construction recently announced the firm won the construction contract for the new Lamps Plus project in Henderson.

The 16,000-sq.-ft. facility will cost an estimated $1.9 million. Work on the project starts in December with plans for a June completion date.
