Roche Wins School Jobs

Clark County School District awarded Roche Constructors, Inc. the contract to construct a new middle school on the corner of Karen Avenue and Lamb Boulevard. in Las Vegas. Valued at $21.5 million, the 148,500-sq.-ft. school will be constructed on an 18-acre site. Welles Puglsey Architects designed the school, which is scheduled for completion in May 2006. Roche recently completed Spring Valley High School, valued at $40.3 million, and is wrapping up construction on the $19 million Clifford O. Findlay Middle School in June.


Firm Awarded Vet Hospital Project, School Work
SR Construction has been awarded the contract for the design, engineering and construction management of a state-of-the-art animal emergency treatment facility, located in Henderson. Construction costs are estimated at $1.2 million for the 6,100-sq.-ft. facility. SR broke ground in April and will complete the project in December, with Joe Garcia serving as project manager.

SR also broke ground on the 18,000-sq.-ft. Hillcrest Academy in Las Vegas. The $2.1 million expansion will be completed for the 2004-2005 school year, and will include eight elementary classrooms, six preschool classrooms, a library/media room, student store and administrative offices.


HCE Working on World Market Center

Harris Consulting Engineers is providing HVAC, plumbing and electrical design services for the new World Market Center, a $1 billion home furnishings complex being built by Furniture Mart Enterprises. The complex will eventually span 7.5 million sq. ft. of permanent showrooms and temporary exhibit space for furniture industry wholesalers and manufacturers. Phase one of the World Market Center is estimated to cost $200 million and will be completed before the first scheduled trade show in 2005. At final build-out, the project will be comprised of three, 10-story towers, a pavilion and a four-story trade fair. Whiting Turner Contracting Company is the project's general contractor, with JMA Architectural Studios serving as architect.


Q & D Moving Forward with Hospital Work

Q & D Construction, Inc. has completed the utility phase of work for the Saint Mary's Health Network West Campus, including demolition of six buildings, addition of storm drains and sewer systems and relocation and upgrading of mains for all utilities. The $3.2 million site work is the foundation for a campus expansion that will double the network's health care facilities in downtown Reno.

Q & D is on schedule to complete the campus' $14.9 million seven story parking structure by October, which will add over 1,000 parking spaces to the campus. Also underway is the Medical Plaza at Saint Mary's, a six-story, 211,000-sq.-ft. medical office building. The core and shell of the $20.3 million building will be completed in January 2005. The plaza will feature an on-site laboratory, diagnostic imaging, wellness center, radiation/oncology, and several floors of physician office space. Saint Mary's Health Network has a total of $160 million in projects slated for its West Campus expansion, including upgrades to existing downtown Reno facilities.
