Local Firm in J/V Wins UNM Hospital Project

The Jaynes/J.E. Dunn Joint Venture was recently awarded the University of New Mexico Children's Hospital and Critical Care Pavilion. A low bid of $129 million from Jaynes and J.E. Dunn Construction of Kansas City, MO., included a dozen cost-cutting alternatives to the original design. UNM received three bids for the job.

The 475,000-sq.-ft. pavilion will house UNM Children's Hospital and operating rooms; neonatal intensive care unit; children's emergency department; adult emergency department, urgent care and trauma; adult critical care; and the women's birthing center, postpartum service and well baby nursery.

DCSW of Albuquerque is the project architect.

Firm to Start Fed Work in Las Cruces

Zachery Construction of San Antonio, Texas is preparing to start construction on a new, $8.1 million communication facility for the United States Air Force.

The 52,000-sq.-ft. project is an addition to an existing facility near Las Cruces and was designed by the Albuquerque office of DMJM H + N.

Construction is expected to start this fall with an October 2005 completion planned.
