New Temple Planned in Las Cruces
A new temple is on tap for Las Cruces' Jewish residents, with
plans to begin building the high-visibility Temple Beth-El
this fall.
Designed by the local firm of Steve Newby Architects &
Associates, the 14,000-sq.-ft. project features a 300-seat
sanctuary, a 240-seat Oneg Shabbat, or fellowship hall, and
classrooms, a library, offices and kitchen facilities.
The design is based on central European and Middle Eastern
synagogues and uses materials familiar to that region. A general
contractor had not been named at press time.
State DOT Lets Road Contracts
New Mexico's department of transportation recently approved
three new road projects and awarded them to contractors.
In Otero County, C.S. McCrossan won a $6.8 million project
for work on nearly one mile of roadway. C.S. McCrossan also
won another job in Otero County, with a $6.4 milllion project.
In Dona Ana County, Fisher Sand won a $3.5 million project
to build an extension of Sunland Park Drive to the Texas state
line.
