New Codes to be Adopted

The New Mexico Construction Industries Commission recently adopted the 2003 International Energy Conservation Code along with the 2003 International Building Codes, 2003 International Residential Code, 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code, 2003 Uniform Mechanical Code and other new codes. New Mexico specific amendments to each of these codes will now be developed, brought to public hearings and made effective by July 1, 2004.

The commission did not act on the state's electrical code.


TVI Offers Associates in Project Management

Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute is among the area's first schools to now offer an associate of applied science in project management technology.

The four-term, 68-credit program prepares students for careers such as project scheduler, project estimator, supervisory positions or budget and management fields.

Students will have access to the dominant software packages used by contruction professionals and in addition to class work, students will complete a Capstone Course with a local company. The Capstone Course allows students a chance to shadow an industry professional.
