Firm Wins Huge Concrete Project
Albuquerque-based A.S. Horner Inc. recently won the design/build
contract to construct a reinforced concrete cap for the Upgrade
Munitions Maintenance Storage Complex at Kirtland Air Force
Base in Albuquerque.
The $9 million project includes new fencing, upgraded lights
and power systems for the 300,000-sq.-ft. building, which
is one of the military's primary nuclear weapons storage facilities.
Santa Fe Firm Approaches Completion
Cameron Construction 65 percent complete with the 30,890-sq.-ft.
Villagra State Office Building, located on Cerrillos Road,
two blocks from the Santa Fe Plaza.
With a central courtyard in between, the three-story metal
frame and stucco building will be joined to the original historic
office building on site, matching exterior finishes such as
stucco, color, and window eyebrows. The building will provide
offices and conference rooms to a branch of the State of New
Mexico yet to be determined. The scheduled date of completion
is mid-February, 2004.
Company Complete First New Mexico Project
Opus West Corp. recently completed the new Department of Interior
(DOI) building at Journal Center II this week, preparing for
the move-in of an estimated 500 DOI employees.
The new DOI building
totals approximately 160,000-sq.-ft.
and represents Opus West's first completed project in New
Mexico. It offers state-of-the-art technology, upgraded security
systems in accordance with new national guidelines and large
floor plates for maximum employee interaction.
The Department of Interior at Journal
Center
will consolidate five separate Albuquerque DOI offices into
one site, including the Office of the Special Trustee (OST),
a DOI agency that oversees Indian funds held in trust by the
federal government. The new building is located off of Jefferson
and Masthead NE within the 86-acre Journal Center II, the
second phase of the planned three-phase Journal Center business
park.
