Firm Lands Several Projects

LGE Design Build announced the signing of five new projects in March totaling 189,188 sq. ft. with a combined value of $19.7 million.

The largest of the projects is the $10.3 million Emerald Center, a furniture showroom and retail complex covering 72,000 sq. ft. which will be adjacent to the IKEA store located just off Interstate 10 in Tempe.

The other projects signed by LGE in March include two office projects in Scottsdale: the Bahia Offices Building A, a 25,800-sq.-ft. facility at 94th Street and Bahia valued at $1.74 million; and the Bahia Office Buildings B & C, located at the same intersection, valued at $4 million and covering 51,400 sq. ft.

LGE also announced two additional Tempe projects. Spectrum Aerospace will work with LGE Design Build to construct a $2.18 million, 19,000-sq.-ft. office/warehouse facility at Kyrene and Knox Roads. LGE also signed the Kyrene Office Building, a 21,000-sq.-ft. office building at Kyrene and Knox valued at $1.5 million.




Wespac Breaks Ground on Vistancia's First Fire Station

Shea Homes, Sunbelt Holdings, and the City of Peoria have teamed with builder, Wespac Construction Inc., Phoenix, and architect, Alliance Architectural Inc., to program, design and build a state-of-the-art, $2.2 million fire station, located at Vistancia Boulevard and El Mirage Road.

The Peoria Fire Station No. 196 is a three-bay fire house that includes a City of
Peoria patrol office. The 9,734-sq.-ft., single-story facility is a brown and tan masonry slump block building with a vaulted copper metal arch roof, reflecting Vistancia's existing architectural style.

 



Anthem Work Continues

Summit Builders Construction Company was awarded the construction contract for the new Anthem Ironwood Golf Clubhouse located at 41551 North Anthem Hills in Anthem, Ariz. for Pulte Homes of Scottsdale.

The new 25,463-sq.-ft. semi-private golf clubhouse will feature high-end finishes throughout the interior and exterior of the two-story facility. Clubhouse amenities will include a pro shop, men's and women's shower/locker facilities, restaurant with lounge, gallery, banquet facilities and a deck overlooking the Ironwood Golf Course.

Sitework construction commenced April 2005, with anticipated completion of the new clubhouse early first quarter 2006. SJH Studio, of Phoenix, is providing architectural services.



Back Office Work Starts

Tempe's Johnson Carlier recently started construction on the South Mountain Commerce Center in Tempe. Developed by Orsett/South Mountain, the project is located on 10-acre parcel with plans calling for a 105,000-sq.-ft. back office building.

Butler Design Group is the architect on the $4.3 million project. Plans call for a November completion.


Firm Volunteers at At-Risk Center

The members of the McShane Construction Corporation Phoenix office recently coordinated the construction of a new 5,650 -sq.-ft. playground/recreation area for the Phoenix Day Child Learning Center, a local organization that serves "at-risk" children and their families residing in South Central Phoenix.

Led by the efforts of Jake Long of John F. Long Properties, LLLP, a dedicated supporter of the Phoenix Day Child Learning Center, McShane Construction raised over $15,000 of labor and materials to provide for a new outdoor play area for the Center's children.


Firm Completes Renovation

Homes & Son Contractors has converted the old Mountainside Fitness at 32nd Street and Chandler Boulevard to the new Game On! Family Entertainment Center.

The 25,000-sq.-ft. facility represents a new trend in family entertainment throughout the country. Game On! includes five indoor batting cages that adjust to the batters speed and height, three indoor pitching mounds, state of the art plasma televisions, six computer games hooked up to sign on the internet and play one another, a pizza kitchen, 2 private party rooms, and more than 60 video games.

Over 4,500 sq. ft. of the facility is designed to fit an inflatable play area featuring four slides, two at 18 feet and the other two at 12 feet high, myriad obstacle courses, and a cargo net for climbing.
