NM Names New President David Pruett, president of Northrise Construction
Corporation, Las Cruces, is the 2005 president of the New Mexico Building Branch,
Associated General Contractors. Elected through a mail ballot of AGC members
in late December, Pruett succeeds Sean Graystone, Toltec Buildings, Inc., Santa
Fe, as head of the 190-member commercial building contractors' association. He

Mountain Chapter of the Design Build Institute of America
holds inaugural meeting
in Salt Lake City In November of last year more than 50 general contractors,
engineers and architects, mostly from the Salt Lake City area, gathered at the
Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City for the first Utah meeting of the Denver-based
Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Design Build Institute of America. Utah Director
Tom Colvin of Colvin Engineering welcomed the group and introduced speaker Keith
R. Molenaar Ph.D., assistant professor in the Construction Engineering Management
Program and the University of Colorado.
Following the presentation Colvin
said he was encouraged by the turn out and planned to schedule a second meeting
this year.
"I think we saw today that there is a real interest in
the local design and construction industry to get more involved with the chapter,"
Colvin said.
Colvin said he also felt there was a great and growing interest
in the design-build delivery method among the leaders of Utah's cities and towns.
"A lot of cities and towns out there lack the expertise with design build
but I think they could benefit from it. I think this area could benefit from a
strong DBIA chapter here locally."
Colvin another meeting would be
scheduled early this year.
