AGC-AZ Wins National Award
It's been a busy month at the Arizona AGC.
The Associated General Contractors of America recently named
the Arizona Chapter AGC as the recipient of the 2003 Outstanding
Achievement Award for Best Community Service Project, Chapter
Public Relations Campaign for the Sunshine Acres Emergency
Access Road Improvement Project.
More than 40 AGC member companies donated more than $500,000
and thousand of man hours to improve and pave roads at Sunshine
Acres, a home for children in East Mesa, Ariz.
The association also held their annual "Build Arizona"
awards, with Granite Construction Co. winning the "Projects
Less than $10 million," category for their work on La
Cholla Boulevard in Tucson.
The award for "Projects Greater than $10 million"
was awarded to FNF Construction, Inc. for the SR 89A Cornville
to Sedona - Prescott/Flagstaff Highway project.
Sunstate Equipment Company, LLC was also honored as the "Affiliate
of the Year."
AGC affiliate members are made up of firms that directly supply
goods or services to the construction industry.
The AGC also recently installed new officers. Andy Eldridge,
vice president, Wheeler Construction, Inc. has been named
chairman of the board.
John Kraemer vice president, Pulice Construction, Inc. is
the new senior vice chairman and Dennis Troggio, president,
Achen-Gardner Engineering, LLC, is the vice chairman.
Circle West Recognized by AIA
Circle West Architects, P.C. has announced the firm received
a 2003 American Institute of Architects Western Mountain Region
Citation Award for Outstanding Design in the field of Built
Architecture. The winning entry was for a specific structure,
Building O, which is featured on Market Street at DC Ranch
in Scottsdale.
Situated at the southeast corner of Pima Road and Thompson
Peak Parkway, Building O forms part of an urban master plan
within Market Street at DC Ranch.
NCA Installs Officers
The Nevada Contractors Association, a nonprofit industry
trade group, has elected its 2004 board of directors. Michael
Dean, president of M.J. Dean Construction, will serve as chairman.
Other officers include Guy Wells, Well Cargo Inc., vice chairman;
David Papadopulo, Olson Precast Co., secretary/treasurer;
Rick Ewing, Las Vegas Paving Corp., immediate past chairman;
Bob Wallace, Kitchell Contractors, past chairman; Berlyn Miller,
Berlyn Miller & Associates, past chairman; and, Howdy
Wells, Wells Cargo Inc., past chairman.
Executive committee members include Brack Thompson, Frehner
Construction Co.; Steve Jensen, Southern Nevada Paving; David
Agnello, Perini Building Company; Kris Sundell, Stewart &
Sundell Concrete; and, Mark Riviera, KHS&S Contractors.
