"Contractor of the Year" awards
The Nevada Contractors Association, a non-profit trade group,
has announced the winners of its fourth annual "Contractor
of the Year" awards, recognizing excellence and leadership
in the construction industry.
M.J. Dean Construction took home the top honor as contractor
of the year. Currently, the Las Vegas-based firm is finishing
work on the new $235 million, 1,122-room Mandalay Bay tower.
M.J. Dean also finished the $235 million, 1.8-million square-foot
Mandalay Convention Center in January as well as the $65 million,
329-unit Fairfield Grand Resort expansion this summer.
The $95 million, 4,180-seat Colosseum at Caesars Palace,
built by Perini Building Company, won as building of the year;
and the $17 million, 3-mile widening of Ann Road, from U.S.
95 to Farrell Street, completed by Frehner Construction Company,
won as heavy/civil project of the year.
Other award recipients include Wells Cargo Construction as
subcontractor; Fairway Chevrolet as associate; Nevada Ready
Mix as supplier; and McCarthy Building Cos. for safety.
A presentation took place on Dec. 2 at the Stardust hotel-casino
hosted
by KLAS-TV, Channel 8, Weatherman Kevin Janison and Miss Rodeo
America Lori Bortner.
The annual awards are the highest honor that a Nevada-based
contractor can receive.
