CORE to Build New Elementary School

CORE Construction-Nevada began construction on Mark L. Fine Elementary School at 6635 W. Cougar Ave. in Southwest Las Vegas for the Clark County School District.

The 68,875-sq-ft, single-story school is situated on 30 acres and includes four blocks of classrooms, a multipurpose room, library, enclosed exterior courtyards and playgrounds. The plan calls for reinforced masonry walls with structural steel, single-ply roofing and a central plant for heating and cooling.

Completion is scheduled for July 2009. JMA is the architect of record for the $18.7 million project.


United Construction Awarded LogistiCourt at Lincoln

United Construction has been awarded a $16 million contract to build DP partners’ LogistiCourt at Lincoln business park, located on the southwest corner of Cheyenne Avenue and Lincoln Road, in North Las Vegas.

The three-building, 408,750-sq-ft industrial complex will feature a 75,000-sq-ft rear-loaded warehouse, a 210,000-sq-ft cross-dock building and a 123,750-sq-ft rear-loaded building. All three buildings will feature concrete tilt-wall construction with clearance as high as 30 ft.

LogistiCourt at Lincoln is expected to break ground by the end of this year, with a projected completion of third quarter 2009. BJG Architecture + Engineering is the architect on the project.


D & D Roofing Awarded Wide Array of New Projects

D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal has contracts for $6.4 million in new jobs. The largest new job is a $2.1 million project at Lake Forest Glenn at Lake Tahoe. It will be completed in stages with the first stage already underway. It is one of the biggest jobs undertaken by D & D.

The other new jobs include Eagle Landing, Sparks; SL 546, Stead; Renown CAM, Reno; Manor Care, Sparks; Reno Toyota, Reno; Vista #7,Reno; Meredith #9, Sparks; Reno Aircenter, Reno; Kelly Moore Paint, Reno; Pacific Cheese, Reno; Pyramid Professional Center, Sparks; Chromalloy, Carson City; Virginia City High School; Nevada Mental Health, Reno; and Western Folk Life, Elko.


Construction Underway for South Hills Church

Construction is underway for South Hills Church Community on the southwest corner of Pecos Road and Serene Avenue in Henderson.

The South Hills Church Community contracted JVC Architects to design its new 40,000-sq-ft church facility, which will be completed in two phases. Phase I consists of an entry mall that connects to a main worship area/multipurpose room, coffee shop, youth ministry, children’s ministry and nursery and administration offices. The building will accommodate 3,000 occupants with about 1,200 occupants in the worship area. Phase II includes an additional worship area to accommodate an expanding congregation.

The general contractor is The Korte Co. and completion is scheduled for fall 2009.


PENTA Selected to Renovate Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe

PENTA Building Group has been awarded a contract by Hyatt Hotels Corp. to renovate the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino in Incline Village. The project began last month and is expected to be complete December 2008.

The project consists of remodeling the existing Regency Club with upgrades, finishes and space expansion. PENTA crews will expedite the work while ensuring that business continues as usual at the resort and that disruptions are avoided entirely. The architect for the project is Collaborative Design Studio.


Clark County Fire Station #66 Completed

Clark County Neighborhood Fire Station #66, a 12,048-sq-ft government project located in Southwest Las Vegas, was recently completed.

The $5.2 million, 2-acre project was designed by BJG Architecture + Engineering. BJG’s prototype design will also be used for future stations to be built throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Construction on the station began in August 2007, with CG&B Enterprises as the contractor. Other notable team members include Ninyo & Moore, TJK Consulting Engineers, Strategic Engineering and JW Zunino & Associates.
