Crisci to Build New Las Vegas School

Crisci Builders is constructing the new Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson School, a 135,000-sq-ft Jewish high school in Summerlin. The contractor is also finishing tenant improvement work at Marnell Corporate Center.

 


Crisci Builders Contracted for Office T.I. and New School

Las Vegas-based Crisci Builders has been completing tenant improvement services for MCC-5, a five-story Class A office building located within the Marnell Corporate Center. Marnell Properties, a division of Marnell Corrao Associates, contracted Crisci Builders to build out three of the five floors of the MCC-5 building, totaling 67,803 sq ft. The multi-tenant professional office building will be available for occupancy this Spring.

The firm commenced construction in November.

Marnell Corrao Associates is the architect of record. Crisci Builders' Paul Auzenne is serving as project manager for the $4.5 million project.

Crisci Builders is also starting its ground-up construction of the Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson School located in Summerlin. The 135,000-sq-ft independent Jewish high school includes a state-of-the-art campus and sports facilities.

The Adelson School features classrooms with integrated media technology and computers, a complete media center and research library, extensive music and art facilities, a performing arts center, a high-tech computer center and a full-service dining facility. The new campus is located at 9700 W. Hillpointe Rd., adjacent to the Milton I. Schwartz Hebrew Academy, a pre-K through 8th grade independent Jewish day school.

Unique to current high schools in the Las Vegas area, The Adelson School will have an indoor, competition-size swimming pool. In addition, students will enjoy a full physical education facility with a regulation-size basketball court, indoor track, volleyball court, outdoor tennis courts and soccer field on the 13.7-acre campus.

Crisci Builders commences construction in January and expects the campus to be complete for the 2008-2009 school year, although 9th and 10th grade classes will begin in the fall of 2007 in a combination of permanent and temporary facilities.

DLR Group is the architect of record. Crisci Builders' vice president of development Ben Cornwall is serving as project manager.



Major Retail Center Planned for Downtown Henderson

Redevelopment of the Water Street District continues with the recently approved Lake Mead Crossing, a joint venture development project between Juliet Companies and Inland Western Retail Real Estate Trust. The 725,000-sq.-ft. retail power center is located on the northwest corner of Lake Mead Parkway and Water Street in Henderson, Nev.

With the addition of Lake Mead Crossing, existing and proposed mixed-use projects will bring more than 800,000 sq ft of retail space to the Water Street District, driving increasing utilization of nearby office space, restaurants and shops. Target has signed for 150,000 sq ft of space, and further leasing efforts will include additional nationally-recognized retailers, as well as restaurants and professional office space.

In addition to revitalizing the downtown Water Street District, Lake Mead Crossing will serve several master-planned communities currently under development on the eastern edge of Henderson.

Lake Mead Crossing is slated to break ground in May with phase one to open in July 2008. Juliet Companies will serve as the developer and general contractor on the project. Inland Western Retail Real Estate Trust Inc. is the equity partner in the joint venture.



Plise Companies on Track to Complete Phase Two of Rainbow Sunset Pavilion

Plise Companies LLC is on schedule with construction of the second phase of its three-phase Rainbow Sunset Pavilion, set for completion in the first quarter.

Rainbow Sunset Pavilion is comprised of Class A office, medical and retail space. When completed, the business park will consist of 14 buildings totaling 547,000-sq-ft. The second phase of construction includes a four-story office building and a parking garage. Plise Construction LLC, its affiliate company, is serving as the project's general contractor.

The parking garage is nearly 80% complete, with work currently focused on elevator installations, the exterior installation and finish system, painting and electrical finishes. Remaining work includes parking canopies on the top level of the garage and site work.

On the four-story office building, Plise is currently working on the interior framing and mechanical, plumbing and electrical work prior to installing insulation on all floors. Remaining work includes complete roofing, setting the heating, ventilation and air conditioning units and exterior and interior finishes.

The estimated finish date for the building is set for March.




Firestone Continues TPO Growth in the Western U.S.

Firestone Building Products Company recently unveiled expansion plans in the western U.S. with a new state-of-the-art thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) manufacturing plant and distribution center in Las Vegas. Construction of the 256,000-sq-ft facility began early this fall and an opening is scheduled for third quarter. The new facility will bring Firestone's total TPO membrane production lines to five.

With the completion of the Las Vegas plant, Firestone will operate 14 manufacturing facilities across North America including two EPDM, two asphalt-based, two thermoplastic and eight polyiso insulation plants. In addition, Firestone's sister company Firestone Metal Products operates five metal plants.




Atlantis Internet Group Buys Stake in Moulin Rouge

Atlantis Internet Group, Corp. has entered into a joint venture agreement with the Moulin Rouge Hotel & Casino Corporation to redevelop the Historic Moulin Rouge Hotel & Casino property in Las Vegas. Built in 1955, the Moulin Rouge once graced the cover of Life Magazine. With legendary owners like heavyweight champion Joe Louis and headliners like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Pearl Bailey, Louis Armstrong and Bob Hope, it was known as a cosmopolitan hot spot for entertainers.

The historic casino burnt down several years ago. The new project will offer a new state-of-the-art casino, hotel, condominiums and musical amphitheater.

The joint venture will develop a musical themed casino similar to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, offering a new musical adventure from soul, rhythm and blues, jazz and hip hop to today's latest artists in a variety of other musical fields. ATIG will participate in the re-development of the new casino as well as develop a Moulin Rouge website offering a virtual tour through the new casino.




Nigro Construction on Track to Finish Hospital

The 50,000-sq-ft, $18.5 million Desert Canyon Rehabilitation Hospital is being built across five acres on the west side of the Las Vegas Beltway, between the exits for Sunset and Russell roads. It is scheduled for completion in April 2007.

Architect KGA Architects and contractor Nigro Construction are designing and building the hospital. Completion time for medical buildings typically is longer than for other projects. Building codes and state regulations for hospitals are some of the strictest, exceeding those for most other buildings.

Systems such as elaborate heating and cooling, medical gas, medical air, nitrous, nurse calls, sterile areas and backup generators will be incorporated into the project design. Nigro Construction has had extensive past experience with hospital and healthcare projects.
