Firm to Manage Two Mega-Project Programs

MWH will provide program management services as part of $961 million Clark County Water Reclamation District projects and $737 million Las Vegas Convention Center master plan.

MWH Global Awarded Wastewater and Convention Center Projects

MWH Global has been retained by the Clark County Water Reclamation District in Nevada to provide program management services for a number of capital improvement projects scheduled to be designed and constructed over the next three years.

Upon completion, the improvements will provide additional wastewater conveyance and treatment capacity for the rapidly growing population in the District and will help meet Environmental Protection Agency water quality standards. The total program management contract awarded to MWH is $11 million. The CCWRD's investment in the CIP program is projected to be $961 million over the next five years.

As program manager, MWH will be responsible for the coordinated management, delivery, and monitoring of a portfolio of the CCWRD's capital improvement projects.

With the program management approach, interrelated projects are managed as a single program. This allows clients to benefit from economies of scale, as well as superior cost and risk management.

MWH was also awarded a four-year, approximately $45 million contract by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to help oversee enhancements to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The new program and construction management services contract is part of a $737 million master plan enhancement program for the Las Vegas Convention Center that was approved by the LVCVA board of directors. MWH in partnership with HNTB Architecture will help oversee the design and construction of convention center enhancements that include the addition of meeting rooms, a new front lobby, and a 100,000-sq.-ft. general session space.

Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2006 and be completed by the end of 2010.

Construction Begins on Vegas Grand

Del American announced that vertical construction on Vegas Grand began in March. The first phase of Vegas Grand is known as Bella Venezia I, a 212-unit luxury condominium enclave located on Flamingo and Swenson. Del American has retained Summit Builders of Nevada as the general contractor for Bella Venezia I and Bella Venezia II.

Summit Builders is now mobilized on the site and has started placement of underground electrical utilities, and is now moving forward with footings and foundations.

Bella Venezia I and II will provide 670,382 sq. ft. of residential space and 425 luxury residential units within two, four-story buildings. The construction of Bella Venezia I and II will include retail space and two parking structures. Two large amenity decks will incorporate party pavilions, swimming pools, sundecks and waterfalls.

Bella Venezia I is scheduled to be completed in early 2007, while Bella Venezia II will be completed in late 2007.

Allure Las Vegas Grows Up

Vertical construction is well underway on Tower I of Allure Las Vegas, a project of Fifield Companies of Chicago. The luxury high-rise has already grown six stories and when completed, the two 41 story towers that comprise Allure will offer 900 residential high rise units on Sahara Avenue just west of the Strip.

Maintaining a 25-month overall construction schedule, the concrete structure is complete through the sixth floor. Once the seventh floor is poured, construction will accelerate to pouring a floor per week. When finished, Tower I will have 428 units comprised of studios, one, two and three bedroom residences, as well as tower suites and extraordinary penthouses. Mirroring Tower I, Tower II will have 472 units with 14 distinct open floor plans being offered ranging in size from 669 to 4,218-sq.-ft.

Every Allure residence will have designer-ready appointments and finishes, floor-to-ceiling windows, and spacious balconies. Allure will provide lush landscaping with an expansive pool deck surrounded by private exclusive cabanas equipped with Wi-Fi.

Additional services include storage spaces, 24 hour doorman, club room with catering kitchen, business center, media room and conference facilities, a private wine cellar and professional on-site management. Additionally, Allure is a gated community with enclosed and secure parking.

Bovis Lend Lease LMB is the general contractor with M.J. Dean Construction providing the concrete framing. EDI Architects designed both towers.
