New Detention Facility to be Built in New Mexico
The GEO Group, Inc., the New Mexico Corrections Department,
and the Town of Clayton, New Mexico have signed agreements
for the construction and operation of the 625-bed Northeast
New Mexico Detention Facility to be located in Clayton, New
Mexico.
The design build contractor is Bradbury Stamm, with Little
Rock, Ark.-based Cromwell Architects as the architect.
The Facility will house medium security offenders for the
State of New Mexico under an intergovernmental agreement signed
by the Town and NMCD.
GEO will manage design and construction of the 625-bed facility,
which will be financed through the sale of project revenue
bonds sponsored by the Town of Clayton and underwritten by
Citigroup.
Upon its expected completion in the first quarter of 2008,
GEO will assume management of the facility under its contract
with the Clayton for an initial term of five years with five
one-year renewal option periods. Once the facility is completed,
GEO's operating contract is expected to generate approximately
$11 million in annual operating revenues.
Isleta Hotel and UNM
Engineering Center Underway
Bradbury Stamm and Hunt Construction Group broke ground on
the $85 million Isleta Hotel and Conference Center, a 305,000-sq.-ft.
project adjacent to the existing hotel at the Pueblo of Isleta
in New Mexico.
The contractor team is currently finishing the Santa Ana Star
Center in Rio Rancho.
The architect is the Cunninham Group and the construction
manager is 3D/I. Dennis Sexauer from Hunt is slated as the
project manager while the superintendent will be Ed Fortenbury
of Bradbury Stamm.
Bradbury Stamm also broke ground on the UNM Centennial Engineering
Center, a $30.2 million facility on the Albuquerque campus.
The three story building with basement will feature classroom
and laboratory space, with student areas and faculty offices.
Wagner Hall was demolished to make room for the structure,
but even still the site will pose challenges. Toby Hall is
just 10-ft. from one side of the site, and a heavily-used
roadway is on the other.
Dan Lyons will act as the project manager for Bradbury Stamm.
Van H.
Gilbert Architect PC with Shepley Bulfinch Richardson &
Abbot served as architect on the 147,445-sq.-ft. project.
