UNM Commences Building of New School of Architecture
The new facility will be located on the main campus fronting
historic U.S. Route 66, and framing a major pedestrian gateway
to the UNM campus.
Jaynes Breaks Ground on School of Architecture
Construction began on the new George Pearl School of Architecture
& Planning and Fine Arts and Design Library. The general
contractor of the University of New Mexico project is Jaynes
Corporation.
Phase one of the $28.7 million project will take approximately
six months with site preparation, utility hook up and disconnects,
moving existing utilities and preparing the foundation. Phase
two will last around 16 months and will involve construction
of the four-level, 108,000-sq.-ft. building, with an estimated
completion date in September 2007.
The project consists of undergraduate and graduate design
studios, a 180-seat auditorium, classrooms, computer graphics
labs, lighting and acoustics lab, shop facility, library and
administrative space. The first level will be partially below
grade.
The design architect is Antoine Predock Architect PC and the
executive architect is Jon Anderson Architect.
School Health Program Selecting Architect
New Mexico State University-Alamogordo is preparing to select
an architect for a $2.5 million facility to house its Allied
Health Program, which includes nursing, paramedic and medical
technician programs. Groundbreaking on the 2-story, 15,000-sq.-ft.
facility is scheduled to take place next spring.
