Condominium, Church Projects Break Ground

Summit to build X Lofts in Scottsdale, while McCarthy begins work on the final phase of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

X Lofts Condominium Project

Summit Builders Construction Company was recently named construction manager/general contractor for the X Lofts luxury condominium project located on Osborn Road just west of Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale for Grace Communities, also of Scottsdale.
X Lofts will provide 82 luxury condominium units within 3-stories and 134,000-sq.-ft. The one and two bedroom units will feature high-end finishes throughout and range in size from 1,600 to 2,500-sq.-ft. The residential complex is being constructed on a 16" thick podium slab set above a below-grade parking facility and will feature a brick façade to compliment the architectural integrity of the Old Town Scottsdale area. Amenities include a clubhouse, fitness facility and large pool.
Construction is scheduled to begin first quarter 2006 with anticipated completion in the third quarter of 2007. The project architect is Todd & Associates, Inc. of Phoenix.

Downtown Church Breaks Ground on Wellness Center

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has commenced construction on the final phase of the expansion of downtown Phoenix's Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. The new 38,000-sq.-ft. fitness center, called the Wellness Center, is designed to meet the spiritual, mental and physical needs of the church's congregation.
Designed by CCBG Architects, Inc. of Phoenix, the Wellness Center is scheduled for completion in August 2006. Earlier phases in the campus expansion included the addition of a new Worship Center in 2001 and an Education Center featuring 12 classrooms, labs and bookstore added in 2003. Pilgrim Rest is spending less than $5 million to construct the new Wellness Center. Located at 14th St. and Jefferson St., the leadership of Pilgrim Rest considers the project as an integral part of the redevelopment in downtown Phoenix.
The three-story facility will be constructed of brick and steel with an exterior insulated foam system (EIFS) surface. It will include a gymnasium with basketball court, separate fitness areas for men and women that will include fitness equipment, spas and Jacuzzis as well as on-site salon services, a staging area for church programs, three levels of classroom size rooms and a kitchen/culinary studio.

Linthicum Tops out the Red Door Spa at Wigwam

Linthicum has topped out The Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa at The Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa in Litchfield Park, Ariz. The two-story, 19,450-sq.-ft. spa facility is underway by Linthicum for Kabuto Arizona Properties, owner of The Wigwam Resort.
The spa will feature indoor and outdoor areas designed in The Wigwam's signature adobe-style architecture and include 16 treatment rooms, a lap pool, men's and women's whirlpools, movement studio and fitness facility, juice bar, a common lounge area and men's and women's locker rooms.
Oz Architects provided the design for the new spa. The Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa is operated by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide as part of The Luxury Collection. Construction completion of The Red Door Spa is scheduled by Linthicum for early 2006.

Justice Center In Downtown Phoenix Reaches Milestone

Crews from general contractor D.L. Withers Construction Co. recently lifted and placed the final piece of steel atop the five-story, 254,300-sq.-ft. superstructure for the new Maricopa County Downtown Justice Center. The topping out celebration marks a major milestone in the $25 million construction project that will consolidate five courtrooms and nine county departments currently housed in multiple downtown buildings.
The project utilizes a steel frame, concrete block, EIFS, foam roofing, blue insulated glass and ground concrete floors. The project was designed to meet or exceed a variety of different LEED components, including water reduction, efficient heating and cooling, recycled construction waste and building materials and ample day lighting.
The project was designed by Dick & Fritsche Design Group, and is expected to be open for business by November, 2006.
