Southwest Contractor
presents the Best of 2007 Awards
Southwest Contractor’s 10th Annual Competition Honors Best of Southwest
Welcome to Southwest Contractor’s Best of 2007 Awards. This year was the most competitive we’ve seen in our 10 years of hosting these awards. We received an unprecedented 708 entries representing 400 separate construction projects (submitters were allowed to enter their projects in up to three categories).
We received 282 entries for projects located in Arizona and 209 in New Mexico. Nevada’s 219 entries were double last year’s total, and the quality of submittals was very high as well.
Thank you to all of the designers, engineers, contractors, owners and subcontractors who took time from their busy schedules to submit their outstanding projects.
Judging Criteria
Project eligibility was limited to those that were completed between July 2006 and November 2007. Winning projects were chosen on how the following criteria related to the category in which the project was entered: quality of design and construction, innovation, contribution to the community or industry, ability to overcome challenges and overall excellence.
A panel of judges was assembled in each state and met in September to select the winning projects. The panel included distinguished representatives from architecture firms, general contractors, engineers, developers, subcontractors and suppliers.
Judges could award a winner in a different category if applicable, or could select no winner if the judges agreed that no project warranted recognition. Any juror who was affiliated with a project abstained from voting.
Southwest Contractor wishes to thank the following professionals who worked extremely hard to bring you this year’s winners:
Southwest Contractor's panel of judges, selected from the
local construction community, brings you the most outstanding
projects from another record number of submittals this year.
In Arizona, over 240 entries in a variety of categories were
received. New Mexico also received a record number of submittals,
with well over 145 entries considered.
Nevada more than doubled the number of entries last year
with 110 this year.
This year's entries showcase a vast array of projects which
represent the diversity of our region's design and construction
community.
Thank you to all of the companies who took time to prepare
and submit entries for this year's competition. Whether it
won or not, every entry demonstrated the pride and quality
of work being accomplished by talented construction teams
across the Southwest.
