Building Hallowed Halls for Future Generations

With the Southwest being one of the fastest growing regions of the country, student enrollment in colleges and universities continues to climb.  Established campuses such as Arizona State University, University of Nevada Reno and the University of New Mexico are all undergoing expansions. In addition, many newer and regional campuses are experiencing large-scale construction as well, from ASU’s new downtown Phoenix campus to its Polytechnic Campus in the East Valley, to Nevada State College in Henderson and the Great Basin College in Elko, Nev.

Projects at colleges and universities provide designers and builders with an opportunity to produce quality buildings with an eye towards cutting-edge design concepts and sustainability. Modern higher education buildings tend to combine multiple purposes, use building materials in interesting ways and blur the boundaries between the interior and exterior spaces. The structures themselves often act as teaching tools, allowing students to learn about green building practices or construction techniques.

The following projects reflect many of these traits and will soon be inspiring future generations of builders in the Southwest.
