Nevada 2/7SH Architecture has extended the bid date for interested construction manager at-risk firms on the $10-million modernization of Boulder City Hospital in Boulder City. Work will include a 14,000-sq-ft expansion to add a new entry lobby, admitting area and surgical wing, plus a 13,000-sq-ft renovation to improve emergency and outpatient areas. ArizonaBanner Health began construction this month on an expansion of its Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert to add additional equipment and treatment areas to meet the needs of its rapidly growing patient population. The 111,000-sq-ft expansion will take place to the south of the existing 130,000-sq-ft building and will add three linear accelerators, 30 clinic exam rooms, 13 additional infusion bays and an expanded intake center. A new oncology and cancer prevention space will integrate traditional treatments with evidence-based therapies. There will also be space devoted to stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. Valley Metro Rail broke ground on Jan. 15 on the $300-million Northwest Phoenix Light Rail Extension. The 3.5-acre facility will include 70,000 sq ft of research and development space in a concrete tilt-up structure targeting LEED-Silver certification. The new facility will also become VadaTech's corporate headquarters. Designed by Las Vegas-based PGAL, groundbreaking for the 12-month construction project is expected in February. Vadatech, 11540 S.
